Mission and goal

Mission

SalWe's mission is to improve health and well-being of an individual, and to foster related business.

Goal

SalWe´s goal is to pursue research which leads to the development of products, services and practices that prevent and treat diseases with major public health and economic impact, and that comprehensively maintain and improve the functional capabilities of an individual.

The research is focused on the following selected diseases and conditions

• Obesity and metabolic syndrome
• Neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases as well as a healthy brain under stress
• Microbial infections and inflammation
• Malignant diseases, especially solid tumors

The diseases selected for the research focus make up over 50 percent of the costs of health care in Finland and in other Western countries. In the future with the results achieved in the programmes, the costs of healthcare can hopefully be decreased.
